About This Role
Biogen’s Gene Therapy Accelerator Unit is driving innovation on both technology and drug discovery process fronts to accelerate gene therapies that may one day help transform the way we treat neurological diseases. We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated scientist to join our team and contribute to the generation of pioneering gene therapies.

You will work independently and with cross-functional teams to characterize novel cargo design strategies in relevant in vivo and in vitro models.

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate AAV vector performance in in vivo and in vitro studies using techniques such as assay development, downstream analysis, and image analysis
  • Independently design, execute and analyze assays
  • Leverage your exceptional molecular biology skills to contribute to overall vector performance analysis
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks, present data to the team, and write study reports

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • 3+ years (BS) or 2+ year (MS) of experience in an academic or biotech/pharmaceutical industry setting
  • In-depth experience with tissue and cell sample processing (DNA, RNA, and protein isolation and cell-sorting) and downstream analysis (qPCR, ddPCR, Western Blot, ELISA, FACS, IHC/IF)
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture including primary cell lines, primary cells, and iPSC-derived models
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Experience with rodent handling and CNS tissue collection

Education

  • MS or BS in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related field

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AAV or other gene therapy delivery systems in rodents
  • Previous experience with NGS sample (rodent, NHP) processing and sequencing (bulk and scRNA-seq)
  • Experience with high throughput assay development
  • Research experience in neuroscience/neurological disorders
