Job Description

This is for a 12-week internship position from June – August 2021.

This is an intern project proposed by statisticians working on ophthalmology trials in ADS. The intern topic reflects the core value of Biogen for being “pioneer” of the industry, by researching a controversial topic in the ophthalmology community: how to design the control eyes in a clinical trial given some preliminary data.

Position Description

Through statistical modeling and simulation tools, this intern research will in the end conclude and provide practical recommendations on how to choose the control eyes in a clinical trial design based upon preliminary data acquired either from earlier phase trials or published literatures.

Qualifications

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Additional qualifications:

The ideal candidate is taking ownership and initiatives of the project, motivated and independent in problem solving. Familiar with basic statistics concepts. Solid knowledge on basic statistical models such as linear mixed model, generalized linear model etc. Good at programming in either SAS or R.

Education

Minimum 2 years in the Ph.D program in statistics, biostatistics or other data science related disciplines
