Job Description

The Associate Director of Talent Acquisition will work closely with their team to understand the functional workforce plans and develop recruitment strategies to attract highly qualified, diverse talent to Biogen and to build Biogen’s employment brand among target talent populations.  The Lead will ensure the team is working within budget, acting with urgency to expedite the selection process, and maintaining a fair and compliant recruitment process which meets all local and regional regulations. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Partner closely with function/region HR and business leaders to understand the workforce plan and develop and execute global TA strategies aligned to the function/region workforce plan
  • Oversight of TA staff and service delivery for the function/region including management of FTE’s, contractors and outsourced solution providers (RPO)
  • Provide function/region with TA related data insights and analytics aligned to the business.  Utilize analytics to inform TA strategy and drive TA operational efficiency
  • Implement localized branding and attraction strategies to support all function/region TA initiatives and to raise awareness of Biogen among target talent populations
  • Fill all requisition demand for the function/region and manage all strategic pipeline projects.  This includes both direct ownership of individual requisitions as well as ensuring appropriate TA staffing to manage the recruitment load across the function/region at any given time
  • Work in close partnership with TA COE’s to deliver full suite of TA services to the function/region, including ensuring full insight to function/region workforce plan to COE’s in order to ensure seamless TA service delivery
  • Roll out, implementation and ongoing delivery of TA COE initiatives to function/region
  • Ensure all legal and compliance requirements are achieved across all function/region recruitment activity
  • Act as a key leader within Global Talent Acquisition, driving key cross-functional projects to elevate TA’s functional strength

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration or related degree is required.   
  • 7 - 10+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition experience on a global level in a highly sophisticated matrix corporate setting with proven results in a full-lifecycle recruiting environment
  • 2 - 5+ years of people management experience, ideally managing teams across various US or global  locations
  • Experience recruiting diverse talent pipelines at all levels of the organization from entry level through senior management roles including the ability to directly source talent at all levels adopting creative strategic methods
  • Pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Significant experience developing and implementing comprehensive recruitment sourcing and branding strategies inclusive of identifying and leveraging social media, external search partners; institutions and professional organizations; and developing personal recruitment networks
  • Demonstrated experience in the ability to manage, influence and challenge all levels of clients
  • Ability and willingness to travel (domestic and international) to support recruitment activities and recruitment programs - expected travel is approximately 15% of time
  • Other HR experience desirable – ie. Compensation, Benefits, HR Operations, etc.
  • Outstanding communication skills; ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how strategic talent acquisition impacts the business.
  • Data-driven perspective; an analytic ability to drive a quantitative culture  throughout talent acquisition.
  • Experienced in operating with minimal direction in a dynamic environment as a leader of transformation.
  • Proven experience in developing strong relationships through establishing trust and credibility with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent decision-making abilities; ability to make decisions logically, methodically, and quickly (as appropriate).

Additional Information

Reporting to the Function/Region TA Director, the Associate Director of Talent Acquisition is a key leader within Talent Acquisition responsible for the TA strategy and execution for their assigned functional/regional area within Biogen. This role will be based in the Weston, MA office. The leader will manage key stakeholder relationships with large and complex work groups and will lead critical TA projects end to end.
