The Senior Manager of Medical Research Review is a position that sits in the Medical Evidence, Research and Innovation (MERI) group within Worldwide Medical. This individual must be driven and diligent in evaluating research proposals that aim to fulfill the data needs across multiple functions within Biogen. This individual will partner with Global, Regional and Local stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include:

• Lead and facilitate the review of proposals by the Medical Research Review Committee (MRRC). Proposals including company sponsored, sponsor research agreements, investigator-initiated, clinical and non-clinical.
• Review proposal submissions, protocols, amendments and study reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and/or improve processes and procedures
• Manage review deadlines and inform appropriate stakeholders
• Manage study progress in the Medical Affairs Research System
• Educate on the MRRC process and assist with proposal submission

• PhD, PharmD or MD degree strongly preferred
• Advanced scientific training in life sciences required
• Relevant experience in Medical Affairs (2-3 years), including design, conduct, and/or evaluation of scientific research (clinical and non-clinical) desired
• Knowledge of neurodegenerative therapeutic areas desirable, multiple sclerosis and its treatment a plus
• Ability to effectively operate in a highly matrixed organization. The desirable candidate should possess a dynamic personality and have strong interpersonal and project management skills
• Ability to take initiative and solve complex and challenging problems
• Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills
