Scientist I/II - Late Discovery Imaging Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented Imaging Scientist to join our group and lead in vivo molecular imaging activities including scanners operations in a state-of-the-art laboratory. This role will be hired at a level (Scientist I or Scientist II) commensurate with technical ability and relevant experience. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated rigour & expertise in designing, executing, analyzing, reporting and presenting preclinical CNS imaging studies. The candidate should have a strong interest in method development as the position will require the development, optimization, and validation of methods for brain imaging. The candidate should also be well versed in CNS disease biology, PK/PD models and should be comfortable working collaboratively in multidisciplanry teams. Specifically, the candidate will serve an integrated role within  the cross-functional environment at Biogen that will require the candidate to work closely with other imaging team members, as well as  Clinical Program Teams. This will involve presenting at team meetings, internal forums and company-wide seminars; thus, strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate are absolutely required. Experience managing or mentoring others is preferred but is not a prerequisite.

Qualifications

  • Requires a BS in Biology/Biomedical Sciences and a PhD Neuroscience/Biochemistry with 1-2 years relevant postdoctoral studies to qualify
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of neuroscience disease with particular experience in preclinical models of CNS disease 
  • Evidence of research expertise in the use of a key quantitative imaging modalities  (PET, SPECT)  applied to CNS.
  • Strong communications and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment (in vitro pharmaco, kinetic modelling, med chemistry, etc..)
  • Goal oriented, a proactive knowledge sharer and team player, and able to work independently and in collaboration with CRO
  • Previous experience in, or working with, pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry ideal
  • Experience managing or mentoring others is preferred but is not a prerequisite.

Additional Information

The Clinical Sciences Imaging Biomarkers group at Biogen discovers and applies innovative imaging biomarkers assessing their application to CNS drug development; and their utilization in the understanding of normo- and patho- physiology in disease models and in humans. The Late Discovery Imaging Scientist will work out of the Cambridge, MA office and report to our Associate Director of Pre-Clinical Imaging Research.
