Job Description

The Associate Director of Commercial & Medical IT Portfolio Management will oversee the strategic direction, governance, analysis, and delivery of the Commercial and Medical IT portfolio of projects and activities. This position will lead a team of Program Managers and be accountable for project delivery and financial management across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Understand and anticipate strategic, market and/or operational needs, and influence those needs into projects, programs and a portfolio that delivers business value.
  • Identify key priorities for the company at large and ensure alignment and direction of the CMIT portfolio.
  • Oversee the intake and ideation process to ensure clear and measurable business case justifications that drive value for the business.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to the principles, tools, and processes related to Commercial and Medical IT portfolio governance, in accordance with Enterprise IT PBO standards
  • Lead a team of Program and Project Managers to execute on the portfolio, and ensure delivery of all activities is on-time, on-budget, and with quality.
  • Monitor, challenge and ensure predictable delivery of projects – driving accountability of PM’s and enabling escalation of risks and issues that require assistance or attention.  
  • Enable and enhance communications between Solution Delivery, Infrastructure & Operations and the IT functional leadership areas.
  • Drive monthly Financial reviews with IT Functional Leads to ensure accurate financial tracking. This includes appropriate budget forecasting; month-end reporting of actuals and accruals and variance analysis; reconciliations with Finance.
  • Gather and report metrics related to the state of the Commercial and Medical IT Portfolio to the IT Leadership Team on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Represent Commercial and Medical IT in Enterprise PBO discussions and process decisions.
  • Facilitate and manage the Commercial and Medical Technology Steering Committee meetings and actions

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years related experience (IT program or portfolio management).
  • Pharma/Biotech experience, preferably within Commercial or Medical functions
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Process-oriented with very strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams and budgets>$20M/year.
  • Financial discipline and a sense of accountability for deliverables in line with the agreed operating model.
  • Works well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Technical proficiency and customer-facing skills.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  • PMI PMP Certification preferred; PfMP Certification a plus.
