Job Description

The Operations & Execution Lead serves as the Scientific Partnership subject-matter expert and execution lead on global publications and medical communications operations, processes, policies, and procedures. The Lead is responsible for establishing global publications and medical communications policies & procedures, identifying training needs, developing training materials, and serving as a resource for business functions, regions, and affiliates. The Lead has oversight of the implementation and use of global publications and medical communication systems and tools used across Biogen, which requires interfacing with IT and managing system vendors. The Lead is responsible for ensuring publications and medical communications systems & tools meet the business needs of the organization. The Lead is responsible for the development of metrics and reports used to measure the department’s performance and the impact of our work, as well as to identify opportunities for efficiencies. Additionally, the Lead is responsible for establishing criteria for third-party selection, performance evaluation, and policies/practices for interactions with outsourcing companies.

Principal Accountabilites include:

  • Oversees the business operations for Scientific Communications

  • Partners with medical congress leads to optimize and support operational activities of major congresses, including training and communication, distribution of materials, and post-congress reporting

  • Drives adherence to publications best practices

  • Oversees publications operations for large conferences

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biomedical discipline is preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in Medical Communications, Publications, Post-Doctoral medical communications residency or fellowship

  •  Knowledge of scientific publication planning approaches and ability to apply relevant external guidelines related to publications are required

  •  Experience and knowledge of communication strategies, and data presentation for various scientific and medical audiences

  • Significant vendor management experience and experience with publication-support systems

  •  ISMPP CMPP™ certification is preferred
