Job Description

The MLM establishes, fosters and maintains strategic relationships with Key Medical Experts (KMEs) and Health Care Professionals  (HCPs) and exchanges accurate and updated medical / scientific information between KMEs, HCPs, other investigators and the company's Medical Affairs group. The MLM acts as a medical / scientific resource within Biogen, ensuring awareness and understanding of the disease area and Biogen’s products. The MLM provides technical and educational medical support to affiliate functions in relation to disease areas and Biogen’s products. The Medical Liaison Manager is committed to contribute to the enrichment and execution of the medical strategy as approved by the local country medical organization in concordance with the global medical strategy.

a) Post Marketing Authorization Studies

  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders to help develop, secure approval for and implement independent post approval studies that have the potential to support Biogen products
  • Actively engage regional thought leaders, investigators and potential investigators in two-way scientific communication around phase IV studies
  • Ensure timely review, approval and support as appropriate for IITs
  • Advise on locally driven early stage clinical trial plans

b) Medical Information

  • Prepare, manage and provide medical information including, but not limited to, medical letters, slide kits, publications, FAQs, and formulary dossiers
  • Act with the ultimate goal of providing timely, accurate, and balanced medical information
  • Work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to facilitate the creation of medical information about products to answer unsolicited medical requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Share medical expertise by providing medical information training support to internal stakeholders (including, but not limited to, regional medical groups, MLMs, Sales representatives, and other field-based representatives)

c) Medical Communication and Exchange

  • Establish and maintain contact with Key medical Experts (KMEs) and HCPs
  • Develop and maintain scientific relationships with KMEs, and HCPs and investigators to create awareness and understanding of the therapeutic area and Biogen’s products, and facilitate scientific exchange with KMEs with respect the completeness and transparency of data according, to Biogen’s compliance and ethics (ie Fair and balanced data presentation).
  • Develop and leverage medical/scientific insights through attendance at scientific meetings to further develop own knowledge base in line with company and medical strategy
  • Conduct/attend/present at Advisory Boards initiated by the affiliate organization if there is a clear need for specific medical input
  • Develop, prepare medical scientific presentations for face-to-face scientific meetings and symposia during congresses
  • Engage in discussions with scientific and medical experts, to gather insights through interactions and advisory boards
  • Identify opportunities to generate clinical or fundamental scientific projects Plan and execute affiliate specific medical educational activities, scientific meetings and symposia
  • Medical scientific events support (Congress and Meeting Support), KMEs and HCPs engagement, speakers support
  • Build and deliver scientific collaboration/engagement plan

d) Medical Training

  • Provide medical training to affiliate staff in line with clearly identified strategic needs

e) Management and/or support of other functions

  • Provide medical input into sales and marketing strategies and medical and technical input into medically accurate development of Brand promotional materials.
  • Collaboration cross-functionally (within the affiliate including with Market Access, Commercial Communication, Policy, Patient Advocacy, Marketing/Commercial teams and at the Regional/Global Medical Level).
  • Actively share new information and unmet medical needs gathered in HCP interactions with internal stakeholders where appropriate for MA

f) Support regulatory strategies

  • Support on regulatory strategies for registration of new products or line extensions

 

g) Support life cycle management

·       Leverage (unmet) medical needs in order to support additional lifecycle opportunities based on patient needs on a rolling basis through the development cycle

Qualifications

BSc; Advanced terminal degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty)  or equivalent combination of experience and education

Desire Post-full-registration experience in hospital practice

Desire Min 2+ years’ experience in one of the therapeutic areas Neurology, Immunology/Dermatology and/or Hematology from Medical Affairs (pharmaceutical industry or CRO) OR the pharmaceutical industry OR Medical studies

Understanding of health economics

Technical knowledge in Neurology, Immunology/ and/or  autoimmune diseases

Proven expertise in working with and within local regulations and code of practice

Additional Information

Scientific acumen: Therapeutic area knowledge, experience in medical research & development

Statistical & data interpretation: Ability to assimilate medical data, present to and discuss with KMEsand other functions

Medical paper writing: Experience in writing of scientific medical papers and regulatory requests

Strategic acumen: Understanding strategic needs of affiliate organization important for completion of tasks

Focus on scientific exchange: Excellent interpersonal skills; constant interactions with KMEs, physicians and patient organizations and internal stakeholders

Communicating effectively: Excellent communication skills; required to present scientific data and key messages to academic and non-academic audience

Relating skills: Strong need to build long-term relationship with KMEs and physicians

Process management: High level of planning and organizational skills; self-starters that are capable of working effectively with limited oversight

We are required by law to disclose minimum base salary for the advertised positions. Minimum base salary for this role is 3000EUR gross/month/full time plus other benefits.
