We are looking for an early discovery medicinal chemist to lead early stage exploratory and hit ID programs. You would work in a highly collaborative environment and serve as the primary liaison for medicinal chemistry to early Discovery teams to enable project progression from exploratory to key decision points.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate to establish and utilize procedures for HTS and phenotypic screen compound triaging

    • Use triaging software to analyze data.

    • Filter hits based on medicinal chemistry analysis.

    • Procure/resynthesize promising hits.

    • Design and synthesis of tagged probe compounds to interrogate target and MOA from phenotypic screen hits.

  • Perform hit expansion from HTS and phenotypic screens through compound procurement and design/synthesis of focused libraries.

  • Prioritize hit series through analysis of potency, DMPK properties, and medicinal chemistry tractability.

  • Move prioritized hit series from the hit to lead ID stage through focused SAR to address key questions.

  • Lead and Collaborate with exploratory team to design and implement a medicinal chemistry strategy for exploratory projects.

    • Literature analysis and synthesis of tool compounds.

    • Optimization of tool compounds for desired properties.

    • Design medicinal chemistry screening strategy for target/phenotype.

       

Additional Information

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry.  
  • Minimum of 3+ years medicinal chemistry experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.  
  • Proven organization and time management skills including ability to manage outsourcing.
  • Must possess good communications and technical writing skills.
