Biogen is one of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies, with a focus on developing therapies for serious neurologic diseases. We are committed to research that uncovers the underlying biology of complex diseases. Our focus is on illnesses with few, if any, treatment options.
We are looking for an early discovery medicinal chemist to lead early stage exploratory and hit ID programs. You would work in a highly collaborative environment and serve as the primary liaison for medicinal chemistry to early Discovery teams to enable project progression from exploratory to key decision points.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate to establish and utilize procedures for HTS and phenotypic screen compound triaging
Use triaging software to analyze data.
Filter hits based on medicinal chemistry analysis.
Procure/resynthesize promising hits.
Design and synthesis of tagged probe compounds to interrogate target and MOA from phenotypic screen hits.
Perform hit expansion from HTS and phenotypic screens through compound procurement and design/synthesis of focused libraries.
Prioritize hit series through analysis of potency, DMPK properties, and medicinal chemistry tractability.
Move prioritized hit series from the hit to lead ID stage through focused SAR to address key questions.
Lead and Collaborate with exploratory team to design and implement a medicinal chemistry strategy for exploratory projects.
Literature analysis and synthesis of tool compounds.
Optimization of tool compounds for desired properties.
Design medicinal chemistry screening strategy for target/phenotype.
