Principal Platform Engineer, ETL Informatica, Data Engineering and Analytics (DEA)

It is expected that the Principal Platform Engineer will acquire enough knowledge of new additional platforms to plan support and maintenance requirements and ensure these are carried out. Currently the platform for this team is Informatica – but this may expand as new data integrations are developed to support the business. The Principal Platform Engineer will be responsible for ensuring processes are followed and that there is a proactive effort for process improvement. The Principal Platform Engineer is responsible for working with Biogen Infrastructure and Vendors to ensure the platform performs optimally and any escalated problems are resolved in a timely manner.
This role has primary responsibility for ensuring the Informatica platform is operating and performing optimally and ensuring developers understand and maintain good practices for code management and deployment.
The Principal Platform Engineer will plan and execute Informatica platform upgrades, ensure enhancements are completed in a timely manner and on-board new ETL and Data Integration applications.
Strategic Planning on moving the existing on-premise relevant platforms and applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Provide team leadership and supervision for MSP partners that provide monitoring, incident management and enhancement services.
Maintain Informatica Platform, provide use guidelines, ensure hot fixes, service packs and minor upgrades are applied per vendor recommendations.
Meet regularly with project technical leads and solution architects to review designs, recommend solutions and participate in code reviews for applicable systems for all activities related to upgrades, patches, releases, production schedules, disaster recovery plans.
Review products suite, maintenance provisions, Vendor roadmaps, known requirements from upcoming projects and expected on-boarding as inputs for financial, resource and effort planning for Data Engineering and Analytics organization.
Co-ordinate with the Business users for gathering requirements and working with Business and IT management at a Director level.
Must have minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience with at least 6 years of ETL/Informatica experience.
Must have minimum of 3 years Team Lead/Supervisory experience.
Hands on experience with the Informatica ETL Toolset (Powercenter, Data Quality Management, Cloud), Informatica MDM, Business Glossary, Metadata Manager etc.
Demonstrated Knowledge of Oracle Databases, expert level knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL on Oracle 11 or later version of database.
Proficient in Unix environment with hands on experience on Unix Shell scripting, Informatica Certification is an added plus.
Any experience with Salesforce/Veeva CRM applications is a plus.
Experience with any Scheduling tools like Autosys, Active Batch etc..
Good to have knowledge on tools like Dataguise, Databricks, Delphix, Alteryx, Big Data, Hadoop and Talend.
Support Operations and Management of multiple production applications.

Working with Managed Serviced Provider model in Onsite-Offshore role.
An undergraduate degree and/or relevant industry experience can/will be considered.
The Principal Platform Engineer is responsible for the Informatica Platform support, ETL monitoring and break/fix where agreed, minor enhancements by supervising the MSP teams that provide the services. This individual will plan and execute minor platform upgrades, ensure enhancements are completed in a timely manner and on-board new ETL and Data Integration applications.
