Senior Scientist, Translational Science & Diagnostics (TSDx)

  • Full-time
  • Department: Translational

Company Description

Bicycle Therapeutics is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing a novel class of medicines, referred to as Bicycle® molecules, for diseases that are underserved by existing therapeutics. Bicycle molecules are fully synthetic short peptides constrained with small molecule scaffolds to form two loops that stabilize their structural geometry. This constraint facilitates target binding with high affinity and selectivity, making Bicycle molecules attractive candidates for drug development. The company is evaluating nuzafatide pevedotin (formerly 5528), a Bicycle® Drug Conjugate (BDC®) targeting EphA2, a historically undruggable target; zelenectide pevedotin (formerly BT8009), a BDC targeting Nectin-4, a well-validated tumor antigen; and BT7480, a Bicycle Tumor-Targeted Immune Cell Agonist® (Bicycle TICA®) targeting Nectin-4 and agonizing CD137, in company-sponsored clinical trials. Additionally, the company is developing Bicycle® Radioconjugates (BRC®) for radiopharmaceutical use and, through various partnerships, is exploring the use of Bicycle® technology to develop therapies for diseases beyond oncology.

Bicycle Therapeutics is headquartered in Cambridge, UK, with many key functions and members of its leadership team located in Lexington, Massachusetts, USA. For more information, visit bicycletherapeutics.com

Job Description

Your mission is to apply your scientific expertise to the design, execution and analyses of translational data packages derived for assets in our clinical oncology portfolio. Working as a key member of cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for developing and analyzing biomarker assay data from multiple modalities (IHC, NGS, FISH, imaging etc.) and contributing directly to the advancement of our novel Bicycle Drug Conjugates (BDCs) and Bicycle Radio Conjugates (BRCs) from discovery into the clinic, including companion diagnostics development.

Scientific Strategy & Innovation

  • Contribute to the design and execution of translational strategies that align with project goals, focusing on the development of robust biomarker packages for patient selection, proof-of-mechanism, and pharmacodynamic assessment.
  • Represent TSDx department on global project teams for nuzefatide pevedotin (BT5528) and zelenectide pevedotin (BT8009) to execute prioritized team biomarker strategy.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for innovation across biomarker analytical methodologies proposing creative solutions and new approaches to solve scientific challenges.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Independently perform and oversee quantitative analysis of biomarker data sets from clinical studies, through management of activities at third party laboratories (e.g. CROs and/or academic collaborators), to ensure delivery of high-quality, timely, interpretable results.
  • Lead authorship of biomarker sections of team technical documents, such as clinical protocols, investigator brochure, lab manual, and regulatory briefing books as required. Seek opportunities to contribute to present clinical biomarker data packages via external scientific publications.
  • Present scientific findings and their interpretation clearly and effectively at project team meetings and to cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in a biopharmaceutical setting of design, delivery, analysis and interpretation of clinical biomarker data (e.g. IHC, NGS, FISH, imaging etc.), in oncology clinical trials (solid or liquid tumors).
  • Demonstrated capability of delivering clinical biomarker assay development at third party laboratories within the context of a clinical trial. Experience working as biomarker lead within global oncology project teams is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with and experience of the regulatory requirements of conducting clinical biomarker studies, up to and including companion diagnostics would be an advantage.
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred

Values & Behaviours:
Knowledge & Expertise
