Job Description
Overview
We're looking for a Systems Analyst with strong technical depth to design and map complex system integrations, particularly involving payment platforms, in a clinical trials context. This is not a traditional Business Analyst role focused on process elicitation or workflow mapping. It requires someone comfortably translating ambiguous, non-standard requirements into workable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and map integrations between internal systems and external payment platforms.
- Interpret and apply protocol specifications and EDC (Electronic Data Capture) documentation to real-world integration scenarios.
- Solve non-standard, ambiguous integration requirements where no out-of-the-box approach exists.
- Bridge the gap between technical implementation and business/functional requirements.
- Collaborate with development teams to validate the feasibility of proposed integration designs.
- Document integration designs, data flows, and technical decisions clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Site Payment Administration: manage end-to-end site payment workflows, including visit/milestone verification, payment triggers, remittance processing, and reconciliation.
- Budget & Contract Alignment: ensure payment rules align with executed site budgets, contract terms, and country-specific financial requirements.
- Payment Issue Resolution: investigate discrepancies, resolve payment holds, and support timely issue escalation with finance and clinical operations.
- Clinical Operations Partnership: work closely with study teams and clinical payment teams to ensure payment triggers reflect protocol visit schedules and operational realities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Systems Analyst, or as a developer who has transitioned into a Systems Analyst role.
- Hands-on development experience is strongly preferred, rather than a purely process-oriented Business Analyst background.
- Demonstrated ability to work with protocol specifications and technical or API documentation.
- Experience with payment platforms or financial systems integration.
- Previous experience in the clinical trials industry is required, with practical knowledge of clinical operations, clinical trial payments, or site payment processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort operating in ambiguity, with the ability to adapt when requirements are non-standard or evolving.
- Solid communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical integration concepts to varied audiences.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate has a solution-oriented, technical mindset rather than a traditional Business Analyst background. They should be comfortable diving into protocol-level detail and designing integration logic, not just documenting process flows.
Additional Information
Please note that we will not be moving forward with any applicants who do not meet the following mandatory requirements:
- +5 years of experience as a Systems Analyst, or as a developer who has transitioned into a Systems Analyst role.
- Demonstrated ability to work with protocol specifications and technical or API documentation.
- Experience with payment platforms or financial systems integration.
- Previous experience in the clinical trials industry is required, with practical knowledge of clinical operations, clinical trial payments, or site payment processes.
- Experience in the CRO (Contract Research Organization), pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences companies.
- Advanced written and spoken English fluency is a MUST HAVE (from B2 level to C1/C2)
- MUST BE located in Central or South America, as this is a nearshore position (Please note that we are not able to consider candidates requiring relocation or those located offshore).
Role details:
- Contract: Independent contractor (no paid vacation/holidays, tax deductions, or insurance). Gross pay per hour worked.
- Model: 100% remote.
- Duration: 12 months, with annual extension.
- Time zone: full-time, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (EST, U.S.).
- Equipment: laptop provided by the client.
- One additional detail: before the official project start, the client requires a short-paid onboarding/training period of approximately 1–2 hours per day for about a week.
Process:
- Bertoni interview
- CV review
- Partner technical interview
- End-client interview
