Job Description

The duties for this position will include the provision of effective support for Foundry operations to ensure that metallurgical performance is optimized and that final products meet customer expectations for quality, packaging and delivery and ensuring that ISO quality certification is effectively retained.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant operational experience in progressively responsible positions.

We desire a person with a Metallurgical background looking for an opportunity who wants to get involved in the process engineering of alloys. Position is based on experience, skill set and education.

Help Belmont Metals Inc be a leader in the non ferrous alloys industry by acting as a Material Scientist who verifies product compliance to quality standard; maintains accurate records; monitors and charts factory processes; prepares & reviews results; releases materials for shipment. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the Analytical and Metallurgical Groups to provide a cost effective service on a timely basis for our customers. Primarily to Manage, direct, and hold accountable a multi disciplined staff.​
  • Ensures the safe, efficient and cost effective operation and maintenance of the Laboratories to meet or exceed safety, production and cost targets, while ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Provides technical support to the analytical and process groups for troubleshooting of operational problems, or for operational enhancements.
  • Budgets, plans and implements strategies to maximize results. Manage the budget of the physical testing and metallographic lab, and to evaluate new equipment and testing processes for improved safety, quality and efficiency.​
  • Maximizes process throughout production cycle

  • Designs, develops and implements metallurgical testing
  • Ensures that all metallurgical technicians, analytical technicians, are working safely & in compliance with Belmont’s safety policies & procedures and all relevant safety legislation.
  • Ensures new processes or flow sheet modifications are designed for safe, efficient operation.
  • Develops and provides training to process operations and maintenance in technical and safety aspects of non routine jobs and procedures.
  • Ensures a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in the analytical and metallurgical laboratories.
  • Provides technical direction and participates in pre-feasibility and feasibility level studies as assigned.
  • Provides accurate and transparent production accounting.
  • Monitors and controls costs.
  • Implements changes to correct unsatisfactory performance.
  • Providing the insight and vision necessary to identify technologies that will mesh with the overall business strategy and provide competitive advantage for the business.​
    Define and continuously improve the process by means of statistical analysis and supporting control plan documentation.​
  • Analyze manufacturing trends to benchmark other manufacturing businesses and techniques.​
    Provide customer support for QA and technical activities and support the Claim Review Process.​
    Support the production departments to ensure high level of product quality

 

 

Qualifications

  • Background in Non-Ferrous metallurgy & Additive Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in metallurgical processing and analysis.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to assess risk in relation to occupational hazards and apply appropriate precautions and safeguards demonstrating a high level of safety leadership.
  • Must have a solid understanding of optimizing, and be capable if implementing changes to improve operational results. 
  • Must be able to maintain constructive relationships with peers and subordinates.
  • Must be an independent self-starter who is capable of initiating change that nets positive results in terms of People, Safety, Partnerships, Production, Margins and Reserves. production & cost management, & improves safety & environmental aspects of the Process.
