Belmont Metals was founded by George Henning in 1896 as a non ferrous dealership on Brooklyn’s Belmont Avenue. Today, Belmont Metals is an exceptionally diversified and recognized source for a large variety of non ferrous metal compositions and forms.

We offer over three thousand metal formulations and shapes, and this number continues to grow. Belmont Metals will customize shapes, alloys, sizes and quantities to meet our customers particular needs.

Belmont Metals operates an approximately 80,000 square foot facility which includes state-of-the-art production and laboratory facilities. We are able to meet our customers metals needs and deliver them to you in a timely fashion.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

Assisting purchasing and sales department with daily tasks, maintaining a current customer base and acquiring new customers. Purchase  non-ferrous metal, scrap metal, and plant materials while maintaining excellent customer service. Will report to President of company. 

Core Competencies:

Position requires ability to communicate effectively with a very diverse group of suppliers and with internal customers. Requires strong face to face, telephone and electronic communication skills. Ability to quickly learn material identification, price and cost structures, logistics and hauling equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain existing customer base and relationships using exceptional customer service skills.
• Acquire new customers through prospecting, using face to face cold calling, telephone solicitation and all types of electronic communication.
• Learn to identify different types of Non-Ferrous metal, both Scrap & Virgin.
• Learn to price different grades of metal using cost models.
• Handle customer issues in a professional timely manner.
• Gathers appropriate information about the local market concerning prices, competitor information and availability of supply.
• Work closely with our Logistics to determine the most cost effective way to haul material and the proper equipment needed.
• Interact with the Operations Department concerning the grading and quality of materials being purchased for the plants.
• The employee may be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
• Maintain our inventory and position

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; college degree in business desirable or equivalent business experience preferred.
• Experience in the scrap metal business or 5 years in a related field is preferred but not required.
• Excel, Outlook, Word, and proficient math skills required

Education:

• Bachelor's (Preferred) not required

Salary is 70k-100k depending on experience with an annual Bonus based on performance.
