We're looking for an experienced logistics professional who will help manage and scale Baton's operations. This means you're a versatile utility player who will play a critical role in customer relationships, partner management, daily operations, and strategic initiatives. We want someone who can instill deep trust with our partners and customers, is a self-starter with a depth of experience in the logistics industry, and isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

You will have the opportunity to be the architect for this paradigm shift, and to build and manage the operational processes it takes to chase after some of the largest problems in freight.

Your role: Operations Manager

  • Manage day-to-day customer operations, such as running point on customer escalations
  • Live the mission of providing the best possible experience to customers and be constantly seeking ways to improve it
  • Hunt for ways to operate more efficiently and scale costs, because it's critical our revenue growth outpaces our cost growth
  • Get your hands dirty onboarding new customers and obsess about making sure their experience is as effortless as possible
  • Work closely with the teams supporting our fleets and yards so that we provide our vendors wit the best possible experience
  • Work closely with our engineering team to define the technology that will make us more efficient and easier to work with than anyone else

Location: Chicago. We’re headquartered in San Francisco, but Operations is based in Chicago so expect to travel 50% of the time

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years working in the logistics industry (at a 3PL, broker, managed transport consultancy, etc.)
  • 3 to 4 years experience in operations or customer success with enterprise customers
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice to have

  • Experience at a freight technology company
