Spraying & Field Applications Coordinator
Job Description
Our client is a world class farming and shooting Estate set in the heart of East Yorkshire amidst 12,000 acres. Our Estate lies within a ring fence and comprises some of the best Yorkshire Wold land, renowned for it's fertility and flexibility.
The Estate has a reputation throughout the country for the quality of our farmland and efficiency of farming with a worldwide reputation for our partridge and pheasant shooting.
Our Estate is family run and managed in-hand, with a long term view to maintain and improve the environment and surroundings.
This role is for an organised and self-motivated individual who will coordinate all spraying and field applications at the Farms. Your daily role will include:
Daily Tasks & Practical Skills
·Managing the workload of the team members who have been allocated to drive our sprayers, fertiliser spreader, slug pelleter and other equipment
·Exercise good management of time and team members to ensure optimum application windows are met
·Chemical store and fertiliser tank management and organisation including working with the ACCS inspector during inspections
·Managing stock levels and ensuring chemical is at the right place on the farm for maximum efficiency
·Managing the maintenance of the sprayers, soil sampler and other applications equipment, ensuring it is always ready to operate when we need it
·Maintain a strong knowledge of GPS equipment and optical crop scanning equipment, keeping up to date with the latest technology and developments
·Working with suppliers of the above-mentioned equipment as required
·Join in with the rest of the arable team when the job requires it
Agronomy
·Working closely with the agronomist and communicating daily when the season requires it
·Crop walking with the agronomist and alone when required, checking for slug damage, disease, weed presence, insects and general crop health
·Receiving recommendations from the agronomist and prioritising applications based on urgency, weather and conditions
·Carry out soil sampling as prescribed by the agronomist, deliver samples and liaise with the lab and ensure results are recorded correctly in Gatekeeper
Gatekeeper & Record Management
·Managing all application records
·Managing stock levels and working with the agronomist to ensure we have the stock we need, when we need it
·Managing fertiliser stock levels and coordinating deliveries and tank allocations with our suppliers
·Working with the accounting team and coordinate routine stock takes
·Updating the tablets with the correct prescriptions, ready for team members to use
·Working closely with Birds Eye when required, ensuring they have all the correct information they need
Other Requirements
·Full UK driving licence to be held
·BASIS & NRoSO qualified and the ability to maintain registration status
·PA1, PA2, PA3, PA4s & PA6 as a minimum
·Industrial forklift and telehandler qualification ticket
·Be able to concentrate fully on the job at hand without distractions such as social media
This role will come with a competitive wage/salary package depending on experience. Accommodation can be provided at £25 per week excluding heating and electric charges.
