Job Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Project Engineer or Environmental Scientist for a new position to be located in our Binghamton or Syracuse, NY office.

Candidate will be responsible for serving as primary technical lead on a variety of stream- and watershed-related projects and initiatives, independently producing reports, conducting critical analysis, performing field data collection tasks, and providing technical input as part of an integrated design team.

Duties include:

  • Geomorphic assessment

  • Field data collection

  • Stream restoration design

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

  • Technical reporting

  • Regulatory consultation and preparation of permit applications

  • Watershed management planning

  • Ecological assessments and reporting (primarily in aquatic systems)

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in a water resource, environmental or natural science discipline with at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates must have a solid background in watershed management, river assessment, fluvial geomorphology and channel restoration design along, as well as experience with hydraulic modeling software (HECRAS).

Candidates must possess proficient technical writing and communication skills; familiarity with consulting engineering is a plus. Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, collection and analysis of river
assessment data
and GPS systems is required. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and GIS software and Wildland Hydrology (Rosgen) training is preferred, but not required. This position requires the ability and willingness to work outdoors in varied terrain in all types of weather.
