Job Description
BwB is working on an innovative Africa-focused Platform, which aims to mobilise public and private capital at scale for SDG-focused projects. The Platform is expected to be launched in two pilot African countries (Kenya and Tanzania) in the second half of 2024 and subsequently expanded across the whole continent. BwB is therefore seeking two experienced Financial Structurers to join our dynamic team based in Kenya or Tanzania. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in both public and private markets, demonstrating expertise in developing and implementing complex financial structures. This role requires a deep understanding of financial instruments, market trends, and regulatory environments in East Africa.
Responsibilities:
Financial Structuring: Design and implement innovative financial structures for various projects and transactions, including securitizations, derivatives, and hybrid financial instruments.
Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify opportunities and risks related to transactions in both public and private markets.
Transaction Management: Lead the end-to-end process of structuring transactions, including due diligence, financial modelling, negotiation, and documentation.
Stakeholders Engagement: Work closely with relevant stakeholders to understand their financial needs and objectives, providing tailored solutions that align with their strategic goals.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial structures comply with local and international regulatory requirements, staying updated on changes in financial regulations in Kenya or Tanzania.
Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with internal team members, including legal, compliance, risk management, to ensure seamless execution of financial transactions.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial structuring, investment banking, or a related field, with proven experience in both public and private markets. Primary focus on sustainable finance highly preferable.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and drive results in a fast-paced, transactional environment.
Proven experience of engagement with both public and private sector financial institutions.
Specific sectoral project experience in sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable mobility, green and nature infrastructure, agriculture, education, and health.
Right to work in the country where the Financial Structuring Specialist is is expected to be located (see “Additional Information” for the list of countries).
The successful candidate should be in possession of all the following skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Financial transactional and execution skills.
Knowledge of local and national financial ecosystems, frameworks, and sustainability financial initiatives.
Ability to advocate for the Platform and BwB, representing and reflecting the company’s culture, principles and values.
Fluency in English (C2) and national country language (C2) (see “Additional Information” for the full list of countries).
