Job Description

As the Director of eCommerce, you will play a significant role in building a best-in-class global eCommerce website and creating a superior holiday home décor shopping experience. You will be accountable for driving and monitoring our webstore performance via effective merchandising, A/B testing, personalization, and optimization projects. You will be a key stakeholder in the creation of the eCommerce roadmap and a key contributor to our company roadmap and annual priorities.

This position reports to the VP of eCommerce and oversees a team of 15+ high-performing individuals, including website operations and online merchandising for all our brands across all geographies. You will work closely with Product Management, Customer Knowledge, and Creative teams to build a conversion-driven website design that showcases Balsam Brands’ beautiful home decor products and proves our brand value to our shoppers. You will also work closely with Product Management and Web Development teams to identify technology, processes, and eCommerce software and feature improvements that contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the business.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, mentor, and coach a team of 15+ individuals to deliver best shopping experience for holiday home décor
  • Develop eCommerce Merchandising strategy, navigation, landing experience, search, and other tactical plans that will help meet and exceed Balsam Brands eCommerce revenue and profitability goals
  • Identify tool and systems opportunities that drive website operations efficiencies, including adoption of use of technology to deliver a best-in-class personalized merchandising experience.
  • Oversee eCommerce day-to-day responsibilities, including:
    • Drive improvement for key page/category metrics (conversion, bounce, exit, revenue, engagement, etc.) through the optimization of online merchandising that enhances overall customer experience
    • Drive innovation and optimization through testing and application of eCommerce best practices
    • Monitor, meet, and report on eCommerce KPI's (conversion, bounce/exit, cart abandon, RPV, brand/category revenue, etc.) across devices, pages, and customer segments, and be able to explain the business drivers behind fluctuations in these metrics
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, SEO, Merchants, Pricing, and Planning teams to define business goals for our brands to align on strategies that drive growth
  • Partner with Creative across all brands and geographies by contributing to creative briefs, reviewing creative concepts against business goals, and identifying asset requirements
  • Partner with Merchandising (physical product) to ensure that product goals and benefits are being translated onto our webstores in a way that is consistent with their strategies
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Web Dev teams to ensure technical support for the execution of eCommerce projects and website operations
  • Provide input for prioritization of website projects, bug fixes, and maintenance tasks that go to Website Operations, Creative, and/or Development teams

What you bring to the table:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in eCommerce for a top-tier direct-to-consumer brand
  • Well-versed in site analytics and proficient in analyzing data for eCommerce decision making
  • Deep knowledge of eCommerce best practices; very strong merchandising "eye" and attention to detail
  • Experience operating with enterprise-level eCommerce software (CMS, DAM, PIM, etc.)
  • Strong people manager with a demonstrated track record of building, leading, coaching, developing, and retaining effective teams
  • Partners well cross-functionally and develops efficient processes for feedback and collaboration
  • Leads, but also builds consensus as needed
  • Strong creative, analytical, and intuitive problem-solving skills
  • Can foresee potential issues/setbacks and proactively develop plans to address/contingencies
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus
