Job Description

Electrical Engineer Intern position available for Summer 2018.  Candidate must be an undergraduate or graduate electrical engineering major with coursework and/or experience in 3-phase electrical power systems analysis, electrical distribution systems, relay protection, and electrical distribution system modeling.  

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:

Responsibilities to include:

  • Electrical Systems Analysis:  Short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies using power systems software (SKM PowerTools)
  • Electrical System Branch Circuiting:  Prepare device layouts, branch circuiting and panelboard schedules in AutoCad.
  • Lighting Calculations:  Perform illumination photometric calculations of interior and exterior lighting designs to determine light levels and code compliance.
  • National Electrical Code Compliance:  Learn key items in the National Electrical Code (NEC) and apply to engineering designs.
  • Preparation of Design Drawings:  AutoCad drafting of electrical construction documents.
  • Site investigations:  Attend project site investigations to document existing electrical systems and equipment.
  • Internal Project Meetings:  Attend project meetings to review project status, resource coordination, and weekly assignments. 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Electrical Engineering Major currently taking and/or completed course work in Electrical Power Systems Fundamentals, Electrical Power Systems Analysis, and other relevant courses related to electrical transmission and distribution.
  • Knowledge of electrical power engineering theory, National Electrical Code, and/or electrical construction.
  • Must have working knowledge with AutoCAD software.
  • Experience in electrical construction a plus.
