Job Description

We are currently looking for a Powered Surgical Instrument Repair Technician.  This job requires the ability and aptitude to perform intricate and detailed repairs.  Let’s face it, this stuff is REALLY small.  We’re looking for somebody with experience in the electronics or pneumatics field. This position will inspect/evaluate/troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and re-assemble extremely intricate medical devices.  As these medical devices are critical to successful surgeries, the quality standards are the highest level.

Quality is critical:

This is a workbench-driven position which is highly-detailed and highly-repetitive in nature.  Approximately 85% of the workday is spent sitting, utilizing small handtools, and working with fine tolerances.

 

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be proficient with a microscope, calipers, micrometers, optical measuring devices, multi-meters, and various precision hand-tools.  The preferred candidate will also have experience with:

·       Circuit board soldering.

·       Basic understanding of electricity.

·       Phenomenal hand-eye coordination

Skills

Repair abilities include the diagnostics and repair of small motors, motorized hand pieces, power and pneumatic hand pieces, and power saws.  The essential elements of this position include: 

  • Small motor diagnostics, assembly-disassembly, and repair.
  • Small motor operational testing, RPM testing, and torque testing. 
  • Small motor repair – both electric and pneumatic. 

Additional Information

Physical Demands:

Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
