Job Description

  • The Business/Sales Analyst is responsible for all reporting, analysis and selling materials which support Staples, Essendant, ISG, and our Midwest/Western field customer base   

  • Own weekly reporting and ongoing performance analysis of category and brand performance 

  • Coordinate customer planning: templates, reporting, tracking, gap closing, new product launches 

  • Utilize sales trend data and perform consistent data analysis to identify opportunities and provide value to our customers and our Company  

  • Evaluate performance of promotions and activations and provide guidance for sales planning and investments  

  • Analyze Point of Sales data and overlay with national data (NPD) to help support the Office and B2B in achieving pricing, contract, shelving, promotion, and profitability objectives  

  • Assist in the development and delivery of detailed Category presentations, along with data and insight delivery to Sales organization with particular focus on Back-to-School 

  • Work closely with the Office and B2B Sales Team in developing and supporting the execution of category information and promotional management initiatives that meet or exceed annual profit and volume goals  

  • Support the Field Sales Team with selling materials and category insights to drive recommendations for selling initiatives  

  • Make recommendation to the Office and B2B Team on overall brand, innovation, and marketing developments needed to support the business based on fact-based detailed analysis of category and brand performance  

  • Leverage Shopper Insights to deliver fact-based solutions to address business challenges  

  • Cross-functional conduit of information, both written and verbal

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of Analytical experience within a Consumer Products Company or a related Retailer is required

  • Bachelor’s degree is required  

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a must; in particular, advanced analytical expertise in Excel is required

  • Experience with Shopper Insights or Sales/Category Management is preferred

  • Experience working with Staples is a plus

  • Experience working in E-Commerce or analyzing digital KPIs is a plus
  • Experience using and analyzing data from national systems (NPD, IRI, Nielsen etc.) is a plus
  • PowerBI experience is a plus

  • Strong understanding of personal career goals and upward movement  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills  

  • Self-starter, proactive, career-focused, collaborative approach, ability to multi-task, high energy, sense of urgency, strong communication skills, comfort with fast-paced environment, ability to influence and tell persuasive story. 

  • Ability to travel up to 20% is required (this will depend on your location)
