Job Description

The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing plant activities to meet business objectives and will be accountable for all aspects of plant performance and will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements. The Plant Manager will also delegate authority to key supervisors in production, manage all functions involved and direct and coordinate operations for the processing plant accordingly. The main function of this role is to ensure quality products are being manufactured and delivered to customers with a key focus on achieving results.


  • Full P&L responsibility.
  • Ensure that all departmental Managers are performing their functions adequately. 
  • Set annual goals and objectives for all department managers.
  • Maintain highest possible efficiencies and productivity in all operations and continue to seek improved productivity at a measured level of not less than 85%. 
  • Maintain high standards of quality for all components and finished goods and ensure that all problems are timorously identified and corrected and that steps are implemented to prevent the re-occurrence thereof. 
  • Identify and implement, group best practices and or continual improvement projects and processes.
  • Identify and implement costs savings initiatives to drive down costs.
  • Meet agreed upon factory KPI’s which include OEE, Scrap, VOC, LTI, Nc, Maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure ISO9001 accreditation
  • Ensure ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks and update capacity planning files.
  • Identify and submit Capex requirements.
  • Must be able to coordinate logistics planning and execution.
  • Ensure effective utilization of all assets including staff, machinery, and materials.
  • P & L reporting and budget presentations.
  • Must be able formulate Costings.
  • Maintain the maintenance program for all production machinery and keep BIC up to date with latest technology and world class practices.
  • Ensure that a high level of service is maintained and delivered inter-departmentally and to customers
  • Accurate reflection of stock on internal system and the safe keeping thereof
  • Distribution of orders in most economical, cost effective and efficient way.
  • Maintain and support Security and Health and Safety within the Company
  • Must be able to do report writing, budget keeping, staff training and education.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management field or similar tertiary qualification essential
  • 10-15 years Manufacturing experience within a FMCG manufacturing or related environment is essential as well as experience within the stationary business is advantageous.
  • SHEQ or relevant Health and Safety training required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must have strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in Production Management will be advantageous.
  • Experience in Quality Management will be advantageous.
