Job Description

As Customs Compliance & Export Logistic Coordinator you will be part of the Global Supply Chain > Supply & Deliver Europe > Logistic Operations team. Within this role you will be, from one side, the customs operational expert within the team and, from the other side, responsible for export activities.    

Activities / tasks to manage: 

  1. CUSTOMS Activity (50%) 

  • Customs Operational Expertise: support the Supply & Deliver Europe team on customs related issues for both export and import flows. Define and arbitrate customs best practices for specific operations (machines transfer, returns management, customs regime application…) or new customs regulations application. Identify risks or opportunities and be an active contributor to new logistic flows implementation.  

  • Customs Referent with French customs: be the point of contact and representative of BIC to French customs. Ensure Declarations d’Echange de Biens and all required formalities are done & completed on time with the French customs administration. Manage specific customs regime application and follow-up (perfectionnement actif, passif).  

  • Customs Data and Process Reliability: Reponsible for AEO certification maintenance and the conformity and the trackability of BIC customs operations, and all data relating to customs operations. Put in place data and process audits to ensure operations are under control and perform as defined.   

  • Customs Optimisation: review current BIC import and export flows and identify opportunities for optimization: application of adequate regimes, control of HS and duty rates, FTA monitoring and application.      

  1. EXPORT Activity (50%) 

  • Transport organisation: translate stock replenishment orders into physical shipments by coordinating the organisation of the transport between production site or warehouse, freight forwarder, custom broker and destination site to ensure smooth and on-time operations. 

  • Transport execution: provide all required transport & customs related documents, follow-up the in-transit with the Freight Forwarder, support the day-to-day operational issues, ensure back-up solutions and arbitrate decisions to support service rate and customers expectations.     

  • Performance evaluation: follow-up of Key Performance Indicators (volumes, costs, lead time, quality & claims) to ensure operations smoothness and customer satisfaction. Prepare and lead periodical business reviews with freight forwarders and customer service team to monitor operations and define axis of improvement. 

  • Continuous improvement: review processes and improve standards to generate higher quality and efficiency to operations, always with the customer value added in mind. 

Interactions within BIC organization:  

  • Supply Planning / Factory planning: will define orders and quantities to be shipped from France to our subsidiaries around the world: will define the transportation needs.   

  • Overseas Subsidiaries: as receiver and customers of the export shipments, it is paramount to ensure operations are executed according to their objectives (transit time, costs, quality).  

  • Global Customs Expert: headquarter responsible of BIC customs organization, leading expert, will define customs priorities WW for BIC operations.  


Interaction outside of BIC: 

  • 3PL, Carriers and Freight forwarders  

  • Consultant providers for customs expertise 

  • French customs authorities (SGC).

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 5 years experience in international transportation or customs administration; 

  • At least 1 experience in international transportation, import / export flows; 

  • Customs technical expertise in import and export operations (export declaration / customs regimes / FTA / import clearance / regulations / AEO certification); 

  • IT skills required: MS Outlook, MS Excel (analysis, statistics, dashboard and pivot table);    

  • Rigorous and organized, pays attention to details;  

  • Fluent in French + English mandatory; 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Diploma in International Transport / Logistic or International Supply Chain or Customs Administration + 5 years experience.  

  • Strong customs expertise required: export declaration / customs regimes / FTA / import clearance / regulations / HS code definition / preferential and non-preferential origin definition / AEO certification / DCN / DEB management. Ideally has had previous experience with SGC. 

  • Experience of Road, Sea and Air transportation (Transport organization, Incoterms, Hazardous goods) within a carrier/broker company or industry logistics 

  • Rigorous and organized, pays attention to details;  

  • Knowledge of Prodouane, Easylog, Power BI, JDE is a plus.
