Job Description

The Senior Manager of Operations to the Office of the ExComm (OOEC) is an “operational change manager” of the company, supporting our ‘Invent the Future 2022’ initiative(s) and responsible for supporting and driving the effective and efficient implementation of the operating model.   Grounded in conventional wisdom, the role of the Senior Manager is to promote operational effectiveness, focusing initially on the implementation of our transformative operating model and associated ExComm driven processes and initiatives inclusive of Group BIC Services and our Programmatic approach to M&A.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the Senior Manager OOEC Operations works to support members of the ExComm and functional heads to bring a high degree of organization, planning, and productivity to proceedings using a breadth of experience and “out of the box” thinking to drive performance and cohesion across the organization as we execute on our transformation initiatives.  

Responsibilities:

  • Leads ‘Invent-the-Future 2022’ coordination as guardian and master of interdependency between functions and connected projects, ensuring effective monitoring and delivery of initiatives.

  • Manages WAVE, linked to above, with strong monitoring and tracking vs. ACT P&Ls and Rolling Forecasts (RF’s) working in close partnership with Group Finance FP&A for accuracy and on-time reporting.

  • Drives progress and cadence appropriately with WorkStream Leaders, and Sponsors, to ensure on-time delivery with early course correction on projects that are at risk of slipping or veering off-course

  • Oversees program management of the overall transformation effort, working in conjunction with responsible line leaders the corporate team members

  • Supports target setting and any revisions or changes to the targets or the plans that support achieving the targets

  • Works in close partnership with the Chief of Staff to provide on-going performance management of WorkStream sponsors, leads and initiative owners on the successful delivery of initiatives

  • Supports transformation and optimal delivery of the business operating model as required, ensuring a “clean sheet,” best-in-class approach to all functions, striving for optimization ahead of compromise.

  • Provides ExComm with support, monitoring, insights, and challenge on the tactics and pathways they need to adopt to meet their ambitious targets

  • Is responsible for driving the standing up of the operating model through regular and high impact cadence of action meetings

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a similar discipline.  Masters or MBA degree is highly advantageous.

  •  3-4 years’ experience as a consultant is preferred working across a global, matrixed organization at the c-suite level.

  • While industry experience can be helpful, it is secondary to the functional background in financial management and operational turnarounds.  The right mindset is continuing to push past the convenient compromise, to logically help people look for multiple paths to success, and to hold fast in an unwavering way to the end goal of cash generation.

  • The successful candidate will be analytically minded and financially astute with strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Strongly curious and questioning nature, with a “trust but verify” approach.  Committed to full transparency at all costs.  Possesses a strong will that will not compromise the intent of impact makes no deals for "peace and harmony" only deals for better outcomes for the company. 

  • Remains calm and confident when people try to dazzle with detail, data or buzzwords; says “I don't get it; show me the detail again."

  • Comfortable challenging and engaging in courageous, constructive dialogue – can ask the hard question!

  • Strong problem-solving skills, proven in a large, high-paced program environment. Personal conviction and energy to sustain program momentum over an extended period

  • Has distinctive experience managing major performance uplift/ turnaround efforts in corporations that are >$1B in revenue and geographically diverse

  • Experience and expertise driving rapid and successful operational turnarounds across key strategic, revenue, cost and working capital levers

  • Financial management and line management experience

  • Has a foundation in operations and finance; must be fluent in P&L terminology, and able to critique business plans / operational plans/capital plans / working capital management

  • The ability to bridge across multiple, often interdependent, initiatives to manage to net financial outcomes (both savings and investments) and to highlight and manage dependencies
