General Description

The Electrical Project Engineer II position is a hands-on job requiring strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. The Electrical Project Engineer II applies professional electrical engineering knowledge and skills to electrical project engineering for the sorter, palletizer, stretch hood, and other products. This involves design of power/controls cabinets, cabling, conduits, power supply, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and/or supervise the design of electrical aspects for high-speed sorters.
  • Design and/or supervise the design of electrical aspects for palletizers, robots and stretch hoods.
  • Design and/or supervise the design of electrical aspects for conveyors.
  • Review electrical design drawings and specifications prepared by customer or consultants.
  • Review electrical design and documentation from suppliers.
  • Assist on-site personnel during installation and commissioning.
  • Consult with and advise regarding electrical problems encountered during projects.
  • Prepare electrical project documentation.
  • Prepare bid specifications for electrical installations or panel builders.
  • Travel to site to supervise electrical installation.
  • Provide electrical management from project initiation through completion.
  • Help PM develop and maintain accurate project implementation schedules.
  • Conduct and/or assist with project reviews and project review finding follow-up.
  • Work with Project Planners to select and purchase materials / resources.
  • Visit job sites to validate conditions, work activities and other factors.
  • Provide electrical engineering assistance to other personnel to facilitate application of plant and corporate standards/procedures and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify cost improvement opportunities and project execution efficiency improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's or master's degrees in electrical engineering or other combinations of experience and education that meet this requirement.
  • Advanced electrical engineering concepts
  • Fundamental mathematical techniques
  • Electrical codes and related regulations                                                       

Ability to:

  • Evaluate electrical engineering problems
  • Keep abreast of changes in engineering technology
  • Review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards
  • Prepare specifications and documents in accordance with requirements
  • Investigate technical problems and establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
  • Use of computer-based tools for electrical engineering
  • Travel nationally and internationally
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
  • Excellence in communication (both verbal and written)
  • Excellence in handling multiple tasks and work well under pressure; sense of both urgency and thoroughness
  • A professional, positive, and energetic attitude
  • Occasional travel is necessary to sites for inspection, to customer for meetings, to sister and partner companies for consultations and training, etc. Expected travel is up to 10% but can be more depending on tasks, nationally and internationally.
