The BEUMER Group provides fully integrated automated high-speed airport baggage handling systems for small, medium, and large airports worldwide. This includes producing and integrating systems for security screening, storage, sortation and transportation of departure baggage from check-in to departure gate, as well as transportation of transfer and arrival baggage.

General Responsibility

SFO T1C Project is the first ICS (Individual Carrier System) Baggage Handling System installed in the United States. There have been several such systems deployed internationally by the BEUMER Group. It is of great importance to the execution of the project to have an individual with trade specific knowledge of ICS systems on the SFO Project. The CrisBag CMC Lead Commissioner will develop, configure and participate in commissioning the Machine Control System for the CrisBag ICS.

This position requires good technical, organizational and communication skills. An ideal candidate will have previous education in electrical system designs and software, broadened by experience in the material handling industry. The CrisBag CMC Lead Commissioner will work closely with the engineering team, external automation engineers, test and demo organization, and high-level Controls Team.

Responsibilities

• Start-up and commissioning of the controls software (Siemens Simatic Manager).
• Test the interface between the Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Baggage Handling System (BHS), SCADA and CSC systems; make modifications to correct possible errors (parameterization).
• Program, troubleshoot and repair or replace sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters and encoders.
• Assist in identifying root cause of faults during commissioning and internal testing.
• Work with the Controls Engineering staff and software developers to ensure the system meets the design criteria
• Train the residential maintenance team to increase system knowledge, resolve issues and prevent issues from recurring.
• Create test cases and document results; review documentation and training materials.
• Set up the commissioning network (configure SSI Controls routers) to facilitate commissioning and testing. Makes sure that the network connections from site to office are up and running for the controls equipment.
• Participate in internal meetings.
• Work as part of a team to ensure meeting project schedule and deadlines.
• Occasionally work extended hours, weekends and holidays work in support of project commissioning.
• Ability to read and audit one-lines / blueprints / CAD drawings and controls diagrams
• This position is driven based on customer needs; you must be flexible and occasionally willing to travel on short notice.

Requirements / Skills / Abilities

• Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work.
• 2+ years of experience with PLCs, Siemens SIMATIC Manager experience preferred.
• Knowledge of servo drives, or multi-axis positioning, SEW Eurodrive Motion Studio experience preferred.
•  Experience with automation technology, e.g. conveyors, automated cranes, packaging technology.
• Knowledge of bus systems, e.g. Ethernet, ASI, Profibus, Profinet
• Willingness and ability to work off shifts and weekends based on our customers’ business needs.
