Job Description

General Responsibility

The Human Resources Generalist position is a full time, hands-on job requiring excellent organizational and communication skills. Ideal candidates must have prior hands-on payroll processing experience. This position offers the opportunity for career development, reporting to the Human Resources Manager and takes direction from the Vice President of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

Benefits:

  • Administer medical/dental/voluntary/FSA/401k plans in organization/open enrollment period
  • Responsible for all new hire HR Orientations (U.S. & Canada)
  • Maintain all benefit plan databases
  • Terminate employees in all benefit plan databases
  • Maintain/calculate employee paid time off benefits
  • Resolve employee questions pertaining to all benefits
  • Maintain/generate FSA transactions
  • Responsible for 401k inquires, Loans, Rollovers, etc.
  • Maintain/generate LOA, Disability, FMLA, NJFLA, and NJFLI
  • Maintain/generate COBRA Client Transmittals
  • Support HR management in the annual renewal of all health insurance products

Serve as a back-up for Payroll:

  • Must have prior hands-on payroll processing experience.
  • Cross train on payroll processes for U.S. & Canadian payrolls
  • Review/verifying time sheets
  • Terminations in system
  • Provide semi-monthly payroll processing support to the team
  • Complete employment verifications
  • Complete all unemployment forms
  •  Update employee portal on payroll software

Administrative:

  • Responsible for creating/generating emails/invites to the organization for open enrollment period, 401k educational meetings, Flu Shot, Health Fair, etc.
  • Review all benefit enrollment forms for accuracy/completeness
  • Review electronic time off request reports for U.S. and Canada
  • Responsible for entering travel report and time off requests on daily attendance list
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties as assigned, to meet company needs

Monthly/Year End Reporting and Projects:

  • Maintain/prepare all monthly benefit invoices for approval
  • Maintain/prepare monthly headcount reports
  • Maintain/prepare monthly vacation accrual reports
  • Generate COBRA Client Transmittal monthly reports
  • Generate FSA transaction monthly reports
  • Manage ACA Annual Reporting
  • Maintain/prepare annual census reports
  • Maintain all North America Employee Handbooks
  • Maintain training initiatives for all employees

Qualifications

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in related field
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a Human Resources, Benefits and Payroll environment
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality/discretion by exercising tact and maturity in sensitive situations
  • Must have prior hands-on payroll processing experience.
  • ADP Workforce Now experience
  • Experience in U.S. and Canadian Benefits and Payroll Strongly Desired
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
  • Strong follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Team player with a solid work ethic and willing to step in to get the job done
  • Ability to show initiative and work within an environment of frequent interruptions & conflicting priorities
  • Professional appearance and energetic attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint
