Job Description

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join our Qld, NT & NZ Construction team due to a strong pipeline of projects in Queensland. The Senior Design Manager will provide design leadership to the project team and be responsible for delivering on all project, commercial and time targets with respect to design and documentation deliverables.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop design strategies for the construction projects.
  • Lead and manage project consultants to deliver all aspects of the project design within the construction projects, to ensure that high quality design documentation is issued on time, on budget as well as in compliance with the Project Brief.
  • Lead the review of the project design for regulatory and building compliance.
  • Lead and coordinate the submission of final documentation, as constructed drawings, authority approvals, warranties and guarantees at handover of a project.
  • During project tender submissions, review design documentation and validate design status.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline in Design / Construction Management / Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in Design Management on large scale Managing Contractor or Design & Construct projects from tender through to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, construction methods, and building codes and regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills to foster team alignment, cooperation and collaboration.
