Functieomschrijving
In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of road construction activities on site, ensuring that works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, planning, and quality standards. You will act as the key link between the Project Manager, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure and road works.
- Supervise and coordinate daily site activities related to road construction works, including earthworks, utilities, drainage, road foundations, pavements, and finishing works.
- Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with approved plans, technical specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of the works.
- Organise daily site operations and allocate resources to meet project deadlines and productivity targets.
- Monitor progress and identify potential delays, risks, or technical issues, proposing appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure the availability and efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment on site.
- Review drawings and technical documents and provide feedback on buildability and execution methods.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship quality and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Ensure that quality control procedures are properly implemented and that any non-conformities are addressed promptly.
- Coordinate closely with surveyors, engineers, utility companies, and other stakeholders involved in the project.
- Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate records of site activities, progress, manpower, and equipment.
- Participate in site meetings and provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager.
- Promote and enforce strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Lead toolbox talks and ensure that all personnel adhere to BESIX and project safety standards.
- Foster a collaborative and proactive working environment focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Functie-eisen
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising road, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects on site.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple construction activities simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of road construction techniques, including earthworks, drainage, utilities, pavement construction, and finishing works.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, method statements, and construction schedules.
- Good understanding of quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental requirements within the Belgian construction industry.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage site activities effectively.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of motivating teams and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and construction management tools.
- Fluent in English and/or French.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to construction sites across Belgium.
