Job Description

The Construction Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of major and complex steel construction activities, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion for a high-profile stadium project in Saudi Arabia. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong technical background in structural steel, capable of driving productivity while maintaining compliance with project goals.

  • Project Leadership:
    • Manage and supervise all steel construction activities on-site.
    • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including sub-contractors, engineers, and clients.
    • Ensure the project is executed according to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for steel-related project deliverables and milestones.
  • Planning and Execution:
    • Develop detailed work plans and schedules for steel erection and fabrication activities.
    • Monitor project timelines, progress, and resource allocation to ensure adherence to milestones.
    • Implement corrective measures to address delays or issues during steel works execution.
    • Review and approve steel fabrication drawings and method statements.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Oversee structural steel installation, including fabrication, welding, and assembly.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., AISC, BS, ASTM).
    • Perform regular quality checks and inspections for steel components and assemblies.
    • Address technical queries and provide guidance on structural steel matters.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor site teams, subcontractors, and technical staff involved in steel works.
    • Facilitate effective communication between teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
    • Conduct performance reviews and ensure continuous skill development of site personnel.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment and drive a culture of accountability.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety policies on-site.
    • Leader in pro-actively addressing safety during delivery
    • Conduct safety audits and ensure hazard mitigation plans are in place.
    • Ensure full compliance with local building codes and environmental standards.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and proactive hazard identification.
  • Budget and Reporting:
    • Monitor steel works-related budgets, costs, and resource utilization.
    • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for senior management.
    • Manage material procurement and inventory for steel components.
    • Support contract administration by ensuring steel work variations are properly documented.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel standards, fabrication, welding, painting and erection processes.
  • Strong experience in lifting procedures and critical lifts.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience in safety management for working at height.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in construction management, specifically with large-scale and complex steel structures.
  • Proven experience in managing steel works for stadium or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Middle East experience preferred.
  • Experience in liaising with design consultants and subcontractors for steel works.
  • Adaptable and ready to relocate in Saudi.
