Job Description

As a Procurement Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient and cost-effective sourcing, procurement, and management of materials, equipment, and services required for the project. Your responsibilities will encompass supplier management, contract negotiation, and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of quality materials in compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities: 

  • Research and investigate the scope of work for preparing documentation to obtain quotations.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess market trends for construction materials and marine equipment.
  • Evaluate tender rates for subsequent negotiations to secure the most favourable price.
  • Ensure subcontractor/supplier material submittals comply with project specifications.
  • Recommend the acceptance of the most suitable supplier/subcontractor to management.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and enforce quality standards for procured materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate the logistics of material delivery to sites, considering the unique challenges associated with marine projects, to ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project specifications and ensure materials meet technical requirements.
  • Follow up on related variation orders and submit them for approval to the relevant party.
  • Obtain management approval and issue sub-contract agreements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized procurement documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier records.

Competencies: 

  • In-depth understanding of construction materials, marine equipment, and civil engineering specifications.
  • Expertise in optimizing supply chain processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Able to analyze technical documents and specifications to understand critical requirements.
  • Demonstrates advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in office software, particularly Microsoft Excel or comparable programs.
  • Exhibits proficiency in negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is a must.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in procurement within the construction industry in the Middle East, with a focus on civil marine projects.
  • Prior experience in KSA is highly preferred.
  • Experience in conducting supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.
