Besix Dubai Engineering Department is looking for a Marine Engineer to grow and strengthen its design team. The position is mainly based in the Dubai Head Office, from where you will support our various Design and Build projects across the Middle East region. In certain cases, you will be required to make yourself available to short missions in our site offices in the region. The position requires a keen interest for the design of marine structures ranging from structural but also geotechnical and coastal engineering, knowledge of design software and standards, along with the skills to navigate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers. You will be working in the design of terminals, jetties, quay walls and breakwaters.

You will be integrated within the team of marine engineers within the design department, and your main tasks will be to:

• Review projects design requirements and specifications
• Review design standards
• Assist in the preparation of the basis of design.
• Modelling marine structures using finite element software (SCIA Engineer, StaadPro)
• Design of reinforced concrete and steel structures
• Preparation of design reports for permanent and temporary works
• Assist the BIM and drafting team in the preparation of design drawings.
• Participate in design workshops with the project team and clients.
• Present and defend your design in front of technical reviewers and clients.
• Participate in constructability workshops with the operations team.
• Review and comment of deliverables produced by design subconsultants.
• Participate in design coordination meetings with clients and/or design subconsultants.
• Follow up of production of design deliverables and supervision of design subconsultants.

Your Competencies:

• You have a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• You have 3-5 years of experience working with design and build projects and at least a first experience on a Marine project.
• Well-versed in modelling / design software such as SCIA Engineer, StaadPro.
• Experience with Eurocodes and BS 6349 is an advantage.
• You are fluent in English.
