Job Description

BESIX Watpac are looking for a State Planning Manager to join our NSW business. Based in our Sydney Head Office reporting directly to our Operations Manager the planning manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of planning programs on major bids and tenders along with working in conjunction with our delivery teams ensure delivery programs are tracked correctly throughout construction. 

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead the management and preparation of construction planning and programming including - Preparation of contract / target / tender, Program monitoring and updating, program resource analysis, preparation of program status reports. 
  • Provide programming support and advice to the Watpac site team(s).
  • Provide advice and leadership in the selection, operation and training in the use of planning software within the Watpac business.
  • Liaise with external planning consultants when required.
  • When requested and in conjunction with the relevant Construction Manager, produce tender programmes for projects costed by the Estimating Department, using the most economical method of construction, labour, plant and equipment.
  • Where requested, execute training programmes to implement understanding of the planning methods adopted for projects i.e. target programmes, four weekly programmes etc.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience

  • Proven ability to manage several complex tasks simultaneously to tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of the commercial requirements associated with the tender process.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business with a particularly strong internal customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high pressure environment.
  • Results driven team player who can build and gain cooperation and commitment from others to contribute to customer goals and priorities.
  • Ability to exercise commercial judgement when setting priorities.
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity, candour and confidentiality in daily work ethic.
