Job Description

The visionary Kangaroo Point Green Bridge is being delivered by the BESIX Watpac led Connect Brisbane team.  BESIX Watpac are seeking an Environment Coordinator to join the project team, ensuring compliance with Management Plans and legislative requirements.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Auditing implementation and continual improvement of the project Environmental Management Plan and Subplans.
  • Managing and ensuring compliance with BESIX Watpac’s portfolio of project permits and conditions, contract conditions, design documents, and client expectations.
  • Coordinating a network of environmental specialists to assist in delivering the works and complying with BESIX Watpac’s permit obligations.
  • Coordinating subcontractors and suppliers to implement and service the environmental controls under their scopes, as required to comply with the environmental management plan and permit conditions
  • Providing sound and timely technical advice, training and assistance to the project team and subcontractors on Environmental Management matters.
  • Undertaking field inspections and audits on environmental performance criteria.
  • Responding to environmental incidents, including investigation and reporting as required.
  • Timely closing out of environmental corrective actions, RFIs and non-conformances as required.
  • Assisting with site environmental risk reviews and work method statements, assessing our construction operations before and during works and planning to minimise harmful impact to the receiving environment.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Environmental Science/Management or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking environmental audits and field inspections.
  • Incident Investigation Methodology certification (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, time management, listening and decision-making skills.
