BESIX Middle East is a business unit of BESIX Group specialized in contracting activities as well as in developing and implementing full lifecycle infrastructure solutions for public and private clients. Its activities are heavily relying on financial, technical, legal, and commercial expertise mainly sourced from in-house resources.

BESIX Middle East has under management several companies and is actively developing more. As part of its growth strategy, the Company is looking for a Technical Manager with the primary assignment to supervise the technical stream of delivery of 3 schools in Abu Dhabi under a PPP framework, on behalf of BESIX and Australian Plenary as co-developers.

The successful candidate will show excellent communication skills within the UAE environment, have strong technical design & execution supervision capabilities and demonstrate the ability to combine detailed review with overall helicopter view. Arabic represents a significant advantage.

Job Description

  • Experienced, detail-oriented technical manager to participate in an infrastructure construction project in Abu Dhabi on behalf of an investment consortium (the Project Company). The Technical Manager will play a key role in the organization by monitoring the planning and monitoring the site under construction at Project Company level. She/he is responsible for a timely delivery within budget of the project, acting on behalf of the Project Company as employer.
  • Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing various technical activities for delivery and installation processes, adherence to timeliness and supervise necessary adjustments in order to ensure timely and successful completion of the construction project.
  • She/he is part of a small, agile Project Company team and reports to General Manager of the Project Company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical expert for detailed design and construction aspects of the project.
  • Answer questions and review solutions brought forth by the contractor or owner’s engineer.
  • Supervise and review technical information, submission of data/method statement for installation, delivery and transport of materials/equipment, storage, and issuance for site installation works.
  • Supervise and review installation plans, methodology, processes, and procedures for support of construction team.
  • Supervise and review timelines for engineering proposals and submissions are met.
  • Check and confirm the accuracy of submissions from contractors, vendors, and suppliers for the work to be performed, coordinate and ensure approvals are received from client in timely manner.
  • Set up procedure and processes in collaboration with owner’s engineer in monitoring and tracking of engineering related documentation throughout project lifestyle.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, Procurer, and contractors.
  • Produce regular reports for board of directors, financing parties and/or their advisors, Procurer as required.
  • Supervise and review various installation/erection or construction related presentations, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural), Master’s degree in engineering management will be plus.
  • 15 years of construction management experience, ideally as a managerial / expediting role in social infrastructure construction or large-scale infrastructure design and construction projects locally. Experience as owner’s engineer within Tier 1 Tier 2 firm will be plus.
  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems.
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a teamwork ethics.
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep project, processes, and the entire engineering tasks on track and withing budget.
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Able to work in construction project site office in Abu Dhabi Capital City area.
  • This is a 2 years (renewable) contract role.
