Job Description

BESIX Watpac are looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our Port Macquarie team, working across a couple of major projects in the region this role will be integral in leading safety for this region. Duties of the role will include; 

  • Proactively drive the implementation of company health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with health and safety legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of the BESIX Watpac systematic approach to health and safety as outlined in the Project Safety Management Plan.
  • Provide technical health and safety advice to the project team and subcontractors.
  • Investigate or participate in investigations into health and safety incidents, and report findings to Project Management and the Safety Manager.
  • Conduct or facilitate the conduct of project safety induction training for all employees.
  • Maintain current knowledge of company safety policies and procedures to ensure work practices on the project are compliant with up-to-date company requirements.
  • Conduct routine audits, safety inspections, monitoring and analysis of the site and work activities.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation as outlined in the Project Safety Management Plan.
  • Maintain project health and safety records in an easily accessible manner for the duration of the project and as outlined in the Project Safety Management Plan

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum Diploma in OHS/WHS.
  • Be a competent Incident Investigator and have completed a nationally recognised course/ unit of competency in incident investigations.
  • Certificate of attainment as an Internal OHS auditor
  • Occupational First Aid
  • Previous experience in a project safety role for a building/construction organisation or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business with a particularly strong internal customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills through development of productive relationships with colleagues and team members.
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity, candour, and confidentiality in daily work ethic.
