Job Description

BESIX Watpac are looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our NSW team working on the tender and delivery of major D&C, PPP & MC construction projects across multiple sectors with a focus on rail and / or health projects. The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead the design/documentation process to achieve design milestones and budget
  • Establish & implement the Project Design Management Plan
  • Apply strategic Design Management principles to deliver optimum project outcomes
  • Partake in peer review of the design for regulatory and building compliance as well as coordination of services with the multi-discipline design subcontractors
  • Prepare design review reports at the nominated milestones
  • Plan and manage all actions necessary through the design process to obtain all Government and PWC approvals
  • Coordinate delivery of final design (100%) “For Tender” documentation.
  • Assist with the procurement of trade package subcontractors during Delivery/Construction phase

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline together with solid experience in Design Management.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and internal business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills through development of productive relationships with colleagues and team members
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
