Job Description

BESIX Watpac are seeking a Design Manager with civil infrastructure experience to join our QLD construction business.  This role is key to ensure project delivery excellence in design leadership, and will be responsible for:

  • Proactively driving company safety policies, practices and procedures in compliance with OH&S legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
  • Leading design review and development processes, managing consultants to produce high quality design documentation on time, on budget and compliant with statutory, regulatory and project technical requirements.
  • Contributing to the cost control and value optimisation of our projects.
  • Leading the review of project design for regulatory compliance as well as coordination of services within multi-disciplined design subcontractors.
  • Effective management and coordination of design changes.
  • Maintaining design quality control management through various registers and schedules.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in an Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in Design Management with expertise in complex structures.
  • Previous experience working with a Contractor delivering large scale infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate between design consultants and construction teams.
  • Capability to deliver results in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
