Job Description

BESIX Watpac have a new opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join their Construction Queensland team. This role will be instrumental in securing new business within Queensland, the Northern Territory and New Zealand across a range of sectors including Building (including stadia), Infrastructure, Defence, Marine, Civil and Heavy Industrial. Reporting to the lead for New Business and Strategy responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Formulate, recommend, implement and update marketing strategies in accordance with the key objectives defined in the BESIX Watpac Business Plan.
  • Market intelligence gathering and prospecting through all available means – internal and external.
  • Assist with the management of the corporately subscribed marketing information systems e.g. Corelogic and BIS Oxford extracting relevant market intelligence.
  • Contribute to the establishment and formalisation of a range of reliable sources of market and project information for reference during periodic updates to the project pipeline.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a two-year look-ahead project opportunities pipeline and provide assistance in maintaining this pipeline.
  • Maintain the BESIXForce database to ensure that the information is up to date and relevant.
  • Liaise with representatives of existing and potential clients and organisations to promote BESIX Watpac.
  • Prepare bid budgets as required and monitor expenditure.
  • Critically review all EOIs and Tender Submissions from a marketing perspective.
  • Manage all post-bid contact with clients e.g., post-tender clarifications and presentation sessions and all commercial negotiations through to contract award.
  • Manage the client feedback sessions post contract award and embed any required improvements.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A qualification in marketing or one of the project management/construction sector disciplines is mandatory;
  • Extensive experience in construction sector marketing;
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and internal business environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment;
  • Sound business judgment and reasoning skills. Ability to grasp essentials of complex issues, balances risk/reward trade-offs in decision-making, and initiate action with appropriate consideration to the impact on other parts of the BESIX Watpac business.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to executive management and third parties;
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic.
  • Ability to motivate team members to produce consistently superior results.
