We are looking for a Global Category Manager - Plant (incl. spares & consumables) within the Procurement Department based in Brussels or Dubai. 

Role description:

Drives and implements strategic planning and category management in own perimeter. This role secures up-to-date market knowledge and defines category strategies. Is responsible for sourcing, negotiation and overall supplier management for large volumes and/or complex categories. He/she will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop and deploy vision and approved plan for his/her category, and provide input to Category Manager when developing the purchasing plan
2. Responsible for strategic sourcing (SSM) for his / her categories with focus on TCO optimization
3. Lead cross-functional teams with focus on early involvement of business & functional stakeholders
4. Conclude contracts
5. Accountable for the implementation, communication & optimization of global / regional contracts
6. Perform high value / critical spot buys (based on thresholds)
7. Track value for global / regional categories
8. Develop supplier relationship with global / regional key suppliers in order to realize TCO optimization
9. Define and execute (for global / regional categories):

• Purchasing channel strategy
• Supplier segment strategy
• Customer satisfaction improvement actions
• Contract optimization actions
• Supplier performance improvement actions

Background 

• master degree in engineering or economics with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an analytical role (finance, project management, sourcing & procurement)
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience 
• Fluency in English, both orally and in writing with a good knowledge in French and/or Dutch 

Competencies

• You have a strong analytical mindset and are able to understand technically engineered solutions.
• Your are a skilled negotiator who know his/her way around a purchasing agreement
• You are not afraid to take on responsibilities and are familiar with strategic thinking and innovation.
• You are willing to travel on a regular basis
