Job Description

You will be performing all types of surveys such as topographic, hydrographic, geodetic, control, engineering, and route surveys of varying degrees of accuracy, under the supervision of Project Surveyor, Senior Hydrographic Surveyor and Head of Survey Department.

  • Understand basic concepts of coordinates systems, vertical datums, geodetic controls, topography, positioning, hydrography, etc.;
  • Able to read and understand safety instructions and working methods to carry out the job safely and properly as per Project Surveyor or Senior Hydrographic Surveyor directives;
  • Recognize the working area and identify potential hazard prior to setup survey sensors;
  • Establishes horizontal and vertical controls on new projects by use of conventional survey techniques and/or GNSS;
  • Able to check and perform necessary calibration of equipment before commencement of work: position and heading check, bar check, patch test, etc.; keep records and logs;
  • Able to run topographic, positioning and hydrographic survey equipment’s;
  • Incumbent performs field surveys to gather basic engineering data or to verify design data.
  • Performs “pre-“, “progress” and “post” construction surveys, including data acquisition, processing and charting;
  • Monitor positioning vessels and barges for various requirements (e.g. dredging, dumping, rockworks, piling, pipe laying, etc.);
  • Able to record all measurements and field book properly, to import and check the raw data within dedicated software, and to export reduced data sets within required format;
  • Perform equipment’s regular inspection, housekeeping, maintenance and quality control;
  • Report any damage to equipment’s and/or deviation from normal use, for further diagnosis and investigations;
  • Check and assist in the preparation of survey progress, reports, chart drawings or other related deliverables;
  • Follow Company safety rules, local safety law and regulations, and Department procedures;
  • Promote safe practices and safe place of work, report any unsafe act, near miss, incident or accident;
  • Coordinate and report daily to Project Surveyor.

Qualifications

  • You should have at least 5 years of experience in Marine/ Hydrographic surveying, preferably in the UAE or Middle East;
  • Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Marine Science or related science field;
  • Project experience with single beam and/or multibeam hydrographic surveys;
  • Candidate must have specialized training, specific equipment course, membership, etc.;
  • Knowledgeable in Survey positioning, acquisition and processing software.
