Job Description
Overview
The Customer Support Specialist role involves internal initiative while providing software administration (Cloudera, Hortonworks, Talend, Infromatica, Alteryx, Revo R, Tableau, Qlik, etc.), tracking consumption, implementing patches, responding to L2 customer support requests, coordinating customer support with vendors for L3 responses, managing the Command and Control Center, and tracking consumption.
Required Skills – 3+ years of experience in the following required
- Strong experience with Linux server administration
- Networking experience and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN)
- Bachelor's degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field OR related job experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical position
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter who is excited about technology
- Troubleshooting / Support experience
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated experience with administering and setup big data tools like Hadoop, HDFS and NoSQL
- Experience with installing and configuring Cloudera platform on Linux for data management and analytics.
- Experience with large scale systems (billons of records) design and development with knowledge of UNIX/Linux
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as CHEF, Puppet, Ansible, or Saltstack.
- Exposure to Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, Xen)
- Exposure to Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GC, etc.)
- Exposure to storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, FC, RAID)
- Exposure to security concepts / best practices
- Expertise with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, RRAS, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring
- Database administration
- Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
- Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, VB, python, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience to collaborate on system architecture
- Strong sense of passion, ownership, teamwork and responsibility
Education Level: 2 year degree plus experience or 4 year computer science degree
Hours per week: 40.
