Job Description

As a Finishing Team Manager, you will lead efforts to ensure customer satisfaction while achieving business objectives regarding Safety, Employee Engagement, Quality, Productivity, Process Improvement and Cost-effectiveness within your assigned shift and department. In this position, you will serve as a key operational leader driving Manufacturing Excellence and team development on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This is an on-site position located at our facility in Greenfield, Indiana.
  • Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by actively enforcing all Environmental, Health and Safety policies/ procedures, ensuring participation of team members in required safety training, and leading or participating in the investigation and implementation of corrective action plans for all safety incidents.
  • Provide leadership for the shift by creating a motivating environment for team members to meet and exceed facility goals for safety, service, quality, productivity, cost, and inventory control targets while recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance as needed.
  • Initiate, implement, and support effective operational improvements to promote safety, increase employee engagement, improve quality, minimize scrap, and increase productivity.
  • Ensure execution of standard operating procedures, standard work, quality standards, cycle counts, and safety/housekeeping audits while engaging in technical problem solving and troubleshooting activities associated with process equipment and/or product performance.
  • Oversee daily activities of team members including coaching, counseling, and corrective action processes, conducting regular performance reviews, and leading, facilitating, and participating in Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) continuous improvement activities and Kaizen events.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years leadership, process improvement and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required (Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a related field preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, support, develop a diverse team of talent, achieve operational results, and accomplish work through delegation and teamwork.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations systems (best practices), processes, and technology, along with familiarization with ELS (Continuous Improvement) principles and knowledge of lean sigma tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and effectively problem-solve issues, implement solutions to prevent recurring problems, and exhibit effective time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, active listening), professional behavior, and the ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of this position and Production Operators work processes as needed.
