Data Scientist – Supply Chain & Operations (AI Focus)
- Full-time
- Compensation: EUR 32200 - EUR 51520 - yearly
Job Description
The Role : The Data Scientist will join the European Materials Group team to tackle complex supply chain and operational challenges, driving insights, improving efficiency, and unlocking value across our network. You will interact with supply chain and operations domain experts to engage in data-driven discussions and implement cutting-edge analytical solutions end-to-end. Ideally, you will be based in one of our European manufacturing sites.
You will leverage your skills in operations research, machine learning, and advanced artificial intelligence to systematically answer business questions and build robust models. A core pillar of this role involves spearheading our AI initiatives: you will implement Google Gemini as the top-layer reasoning and conversational engine for our projects, and you will pioneer the use of Agentic AI to build autonomous agents that shift our supply chain from static predictions to dynamic, real-time decision-making.
Your Main Missions:
Interpreting and analyzing supply chain and operations data using statistical techniques, machine learning, and operations research.
Designing and deploying Generative AI solutions, utilizing Gemini to make complex supply chain data accessible and actionable for non-technical business units.
Developing and orchestrating Agentic AI workflows (sense–plan–act–learn loops) to autonomously handle supply chain disruptions, automate document collection, and optimize logistics in real time.
Formulating and leading multifaceted analytic studies against large datasets related to procurement, manufacturing, inventory, and distribution.
Building predictive models and prescriptive models
Analyzing supply chain bottlenecks, process inefficiencies, and determining root causes.
Working closely with supply chain and operations teams to link AI recommendations directly to physical processes and material flow.
Coordinating with Data Expert to define the data assets, models, and pipelines required to power robust LLMs and agentic frameworks.
Experimenting with real-time data to provide continuous insights for logistics, capacity planning, and lead-time reduction.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s degree (preferred), or other advanced degree in Operations Research, Supply Chain Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant industry experience in advanced analytics, ideally within a Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Logistics environment.
Artificial Intelligence: Hands-on experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into business processes. Experience with the Gemini API and integrating it as a top-layer solution is highly desirable.
Agentic Frameworks: Familiarity with building autonomous AI agents and utilizing AI orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, or proprietary agent architectures).
Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of core supply chain processes (S&OP, inventory management, demand planning, logistics). Experience working with ERP data (e.g., SAP) is highly desirable.
Programming: Proficiency in Python and SQL. Familiarity with optimization solvers/libraries (e.g., Gurobi, PuLP, OR-Tools) is a strong plus.
Cloud & Big Data: Expertise in Cloud and Big Data technologies (OCI) to support scalable AI deployments.
Advanced Analytics: Deep skills in time-series forecasting, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics.
Data Visualization: Experience building impactful dashboards using tools like Cognos, Grafana.
Soft Skills: Exceptional record of project management, leadership, and the ability to drive change and build trust in AI-led operational environments.
