Job Description
The Raw Material Planner reports to the Master Production Scheduler and drives the strategic execution of raw material procurement, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency. This role is a critical link between demand signals and production readiness, ensuring seamless material flow for the site.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Procurement
Execute daily planning and ordering for all chemical raw materials.
Analyze usage patterns to adjust procurement in response to demand fluctuations.
Standardize and automate daily planning workflows to increase operational efficiency.
Inventory & Quality Management
Manage site inventory levels to balance service goals with working capital targets.
Lead site-wide initiatives including cycle counts, loss reduction, and SLOB (Slow Moving/Obsolete) mitigation.
Facilitate Vendor Management processes, including forecasting and Supply Corrective Actions.
Process Improvement & Integration
Utilize Lean/Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) tools to identify root causes and improve system performance.
Support New Product Introductions (NPI) and material transitions.
Resolve cross-functional invoice exceptions by partnering with Finance, AP, and Logistics.
Qualifications
Experience: Relevant Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related experience, OR 5+ years of professional experience in scheduling, planning, Supply Chain, Materials Management, or Logistics required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle and/or SAP preferred), Google tools, and Microsoft Office; demonstrated expertise in material control and data visualization.
Problem Solving & Improvement: Ability to lead change and use Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) or A3 Thinking to identify root causes; familiar with process documentation and continuous improvement.
Execution & Focus: High customer focus with the ability to proactively identify needs, take ownership of issues, and interface with cross-functional teams to execute requirements.
Certification: APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) highly preferred.
