Job Description
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance/Production Assistant performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on facilities, utility systems, and equipment. This role installs new equipment, performs welding, fabrication, and chemical delivery system repair, and services/repairs lift trucks. The position ensures all equipment and procedures comply with regulations, accurately documents maintenance, and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Shift: 7 AM - 4 PM
Hourly Rate: $20.98 - $25.64 / hr.
II. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and routine tests on facilities, utility systems, and production equipment to minimize breakdowns. 
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform unscheduled repairs on equipment, tools, machines, and utility systems. 
- Install new equipment, systems, and processes. 
- Perform welding, parts fabrication, and maintenance on pumps and chemical delivery systems. 
- Conduct limited servicing, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs on forklifts. 
- Ensure equipment and facilities comply with all local, state, and federal laws. 
- Report all personnel and equipment problems to the Plant Manager. 
- Must have knowledge of pipe threaders and basic power tools. 
Production & Support
- Assist in production duties, including shipping/receiving, unloading bulk tankers, and working the manual production line (e.g., shrink wrapping pallets). 
- Recommend plant equipment improvements or deficiencies. 
- Contribute to team efforts by assisting in any area required. 
Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following all housekeeping standards and safety policies (e.g., "Safety Rules and Guidelines"). 
- Organize spare parts storage, properly store tools/rags, and ensure floors are kept clear of debris. 
- Secure a properly authorized Welding Permit before any welding operations. 
Qualifications
A. Education/Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred. 
- Experience in construction, pipe fitting, welding, chemical delivery systems, pumps, batch processing equipment, and process controls. 
- Current forklift certification training. 
- Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record. 
B. Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and decision-making ability. 
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for manufacturing equipment. 
- Ability to speak and write English clearly. 
- Ability to perform with minimal supervision. 
- Basic mathematical and computer skills. 
C. Physical Conditions
- Work is very physical in nature. 
- Requires routine bending, stooping, reaching, and stair climbing. 
- Must lift and carry materials and supplies, typically weighing up to 70 pounds. 
- Manual dexterity is required to operate tools, machinery, and forklifts. 
D. Working Conditions
- Plant environment with special safety requirements; may also work outdoors. 
- May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials. 
- May work in temperature and weather extremes.
