Job Description
The Supervisor of Distribution will report to the Logistics Manager and will work primarily on second shift. As a Supervisor, you will have direct reports and will be responsible for their performance and development. You will lead your staff to meet internal and external customer needs in a Safe, High-Quality, and Cost Effective manner. This position will be on second shift but will be supervising employees on both second and third shifts.
This role is responsible for two different teams of warehousers. The first team, working on second shift, manages the handling and shipping of the plant’s finished goods and is comprised of 11 people. The second team spans across second and third shift, with 3 people on each shift, and is responsible for supplying raw materials to the production floor. Total direct report team is roughly 17 people.
The expectation for this role is that the Supervisor will work a typical second shift schedule most of the time, with the ability to flex their hours and frequently come in later to support and supervise third shift.
Responsibilities:
Champion the safe and sustainable use of the warehouse by conducting daily safety audits; managing regular housekeeping and proper waste management; managing the safe use of PPE, tools, and equipment; and leading 5S/organization efforts.
Develop the performance of direct reports through consistent feedback and coaching.
Document and communicate direct reports’ development and merit-based pay increases in yearly performance appraisals.
Conduct hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations as needed.
Ensure the department meets deadlines while maintaining organization and high quality through the assigning of work to direct reports, planning overtime, monitoring department performance metrics, and engaging with support resources to remove roadblocks to success.
Manage formal training for new and existing employees to best serve the company’s needs.
Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.
Maintain and approve employee time cards and time-off schedule.
Act as a team role model and change-agent. Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
Design and implement improvements to the quality and cost efficiency of the department’s operations, through collaboration with support resources such as Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations.
Drive improvements to inventory control procedures and training.
Collect, maintain, and collaborate with direct reports on the department’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Manage the department’s financial budget and procure necessary supplies, tools, and equipment for department use.
Ensure best practices and standard operating procedures are being followed by conducting frequent business audits.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years experience in manufacturing/distribution
Demonstrated leadership abilities (leading a team, coaching, conflict management, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, delegate, and deliver results on-time
Skilled in designing and implementing continuous improvement projects
Proficient in information systems such as the Google suite, Excel, Oracle, and Loftware
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field
2+ years experience in warehouse operations (shipping, warehouse management, material handling equipment operation and inspection)
2+ years management experience (team lead, supervisor, etc.) in a manufacturing environment
