Job Description

Avery Dennison is looking for a Procurement Category Lead Paper EMENA to join our Labels and Packaging Materials (LPM) Procurement team.

This is a key role with responsibility for aligning the strategic direction for our Paper materials in Europe while managing a critical portfolio of products and vendors. 

In this role you will lead the Procurement team for Paper in Europe. You will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating commercial terms, implementing procurement agreements, as well as introducing new suppliers and products to support innovation, sustainability and financial targets across the region. Key performance indicators include inflation or deflation financial reporting, free cash flow, supply assurance, cost improvements, quality, service, and innovation. 

Additionally, you will be part of a Global Paper Procurement community where you will be an integral part of co-designing and executing multi-year strategic roadmaps for our Paper portfolios across regions.

The position will be located at our European Headquarters in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, reporting to the “Director Procurement LPM EMENA” based in Oegstgeest as well.

Responsibilities :

  • Act as the main point of contact between all LPM functional teams (Research & Development, Supply Chain, etc.) and Procurement in order to develop and execute the strategic direction and yearly projects of the spend portfolio.

  • Work in partnership with the LPM Marketing organization to translate market needs into multi-year roadmaps that deliver innovation, differentiation, and competitive advantage (through strategic sourcing, negotiations and vendor management).

  • Work closely with the Global and European Procurement teams to develop and implement supplier strategies that support our multi-year roadmaps while at the same time maintaining and enhancing (strategic) supplier relationships.

  • Partner with R&D to identify and deliver cost savings opportunities, and to maintain a healthy pipeline of new materials and supplier capabilities.

  • Close collaboration with Supply Chain & Operations in order to guarantee raw materials availability and quality, while at the same time exploring opportunities to increase service value, and reducing business continuity risks.

  • Continuously scan and scout both the market and our existing supply base in order to assess our competitive position and facilitate supplier-driven innovation, bringing outside intelligence to our front-end organization.

  • Influence and partner with internal business partners from project initiation through project closure to ensure early involvement and optimal use of Procurement and supplier tools, processes, systems and best practices.

  • Lead continuous improvement and supplier risk management initiatives.

  • Act as a team role model and change-agent.

Qualifications

  • Education on academic level (Master degree or Bachelor degree) in a relevant discipline i.e. Supply Chain, Business Administration or equivalent experience 

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a similar or related function within an international, fast-paced industrial environment.

  • Demonstrated accomplishments in handling diverse and complex strategic sourcing activities and vendor management (selection, negotiation, contracts, etc.), leading large negotiations, developing commercial agreements and contracts, and project management.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing procurement policies, processes, tools and initiatives on a regional and/or line of business basis.

  • Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to manage/lead multiple projects and programs simultaneously.

  • Industry and/or Paper knowledge is preferred.

  • Excellent command of English (written / spoken as well as presentation skills).

  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Google Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides).

  • SAP or Oracle and Ariba proficiency is a plus.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
