Job Description

Floor Inspector, plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our products on the manufacturing floor. Your primary responsibilities include conducting thorough inspections at various stages of production, maintaining compliance with quality standards, and facilitating effective communication between production teams. This position operates during the 3rd shift, Monday to Friday, from 11 PM to 7 AM, with occasional overtime and weekend work required.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform in-process and final quality checks according to work instructions.
  • Develop the shift's break coverage schedule and ensure break coverage.
  • Transfer finished, inspected product to the warehouse.
  • Conduct final checks on all rework skids.
  • Provide production counts regularly throughout the shift.
  • Facilitate effective communication between shifts.
  • Assist in the training of molder/packers.
  • Calculate UEE (Utilization, Efficiency, and Effectiveness) or other production reporting as required.
  • Utilize test equipment and methods for quality checks (e.g., optical comparator, calipers, vernier, tensile testing, application tests, moisture analysis).
  • Schedule machine operation in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Review time slips of temporary employees in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Provide coverage for machine operation, grinding, and housekeeping when needed.
  • Cover for the Team Leader during their absence.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree preferred (GED); or one to three month of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills are advantageous.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs effectively.

Physical Requirements

Physical abilities will include visual acuity, ability to lift up to 40 lbs and operate Powered industrial vehicles (motorized pallet jack self-propelled).
